Can I have one suggestion? I find the use of bold to emphasise words rather distracting while I'm reading, maybe you could use italics instead?

Hmmm, this is a very interesting start, Shanni. You've really conveyed Orlando's hurt and irritation blending into confusion and then... dawning realization as to just why he's so affected by Sean's behaviour.

And just why is Sean such a surly curmudgeon? I'm guessing that he discovered something he hadn't expected regarding his friendship with the elf while he was away, and he's not sure how to handle it... and probably doesn't think he stands a hope in hell because Orlando's straight. That'd definitely be enough to make anyone a grumpy old bugger. *nods*
