sorry no outings for you

Today my dad had an appointment for Access Transportation and while we were waiting for them, my dad became unresponsive!

Since we're on hospice care, we don't call the traditional 911, we call the hospice's version of 911 and tell them what happened. So we did that and they walked me through what had to be done (get him back into the apartment, ( Read more... )

Oh wow. I'm sorry that happened. Glad the nurse finally arrived!

What will happen with the Access appointment now? I mean, besides having to reschedule and all. Do you have to wait until your dad's moving out of his bed a bit more?

We'll probably wait until he's more mobile, if that ever happens, to arrange another Access Transportation appointment.

Yeah, that makes sense. Too bad you can't have a nurse with you during the days to help out so you can have the appointment. After one of my grandmas had a stroke and she came home, there was a nurse who came to the house during the day to help my step-grandpa out.

My mom wanted something like that, but the hospice people said that was outside of their care and would require us to pay for private nursing.

But...just now, literally minutes ago, my neighbor told my parents that she would come by more often to help with his physical therapy. Apparently she's months away from finishing her physical therapist degree or whatever. I'm like GREAT! If she can help my mom during the day, I won't feel so out of sorts should I find a job and work during the day.

Oh dear, poor you and your mom! And your poor dad! That must have been terribly scary!

Did they suggest having your dad try to sit up some more for periods of time to try and build his stamina for outings?

*gentle hugs*

That's exactly what they suggested. Like 30 minutes sitting at the edge of the bed or in the wheelchair.
