Installing sims3packs without the Launcher: ANSWERED

My launcher hasn't worked in so long that I've forgotten why and I don't really care. I won't be doing anything to fix it because I never liked it anyway and much prefer .packages.

So my question is this: how do I install sims3packs without the Launcher, specifically houses and Riverview? I'm using Delphy's Multi-Extracter ( ( Read more... )

you should use the sims3pack multi installer available at mts http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=364038 that's what i use and it works perfectly. i have no clue how to convert stuff into packages so i'm not sure what you are using or what you do but i just toss all my s3packs into a folder and run that program and they all change into packages and the game reads them just fine. houses usually install more than one package at a time so converting it to a package might be why its not showing up.

Perhaps I should have said I am using Delphy's Multi-Extracter to convert my files. It's just with houses and Worlds I need an alternative method for installing. But thanks for taking the time.

Where do you put your house files? If you put them in the library I think they should show up. Not sure about Riverview though.

Ah, that might be it - I've been putting the houses the The Sims 3/Mods/Packages folder with the other cc. I'll have a try of putting them the The Sims 3/Library folder. Thank you.

You are totally right; putting a house .package file in The Sims 3/Library folder means it shows up ready for placement. Thank you very much.

Did you figure out Riverview? I always wondered how to install that without the launcher.

Hoods have to be installed via the Launcher. No way around it if you want them to work right. When you install a hood it makes an entry in the dbc file in DCcahce as well as putting the .world file in InstalledWorlds. You can get around using the launcher if someone can give you a .dbc file with only Riverview in it fore placement with your other CC and placing the world file in installed worlds yourself.
