The hospital are keeping her in for a couple more days, I learned this morning. Given how she looked last night, I'm not totally surprised. Don't get me wrong, she looked wonderful - to me! But she was really in no condition to even move and doing so made her nauseous. No way she would be able to manage the walk from the ward to the car today.... ( Read more... )

Even though it's a pain to have your loved ones away from you, sometimes it's just better, specially under those circumstances..

There's just no point in having her come home too soon, because she'll just end up back in hospital again, probably for even longer!

Story of my boss who does this all the time because she wants her comfort (and her servants) rather than trying to get better ....

That's simple surgery that makes you feel like absolute crap. Best not to push it!

The Treat Lady down the street spent a couple of nights at the hospital for unknown reasons. She stopped by yesterday on her way home from the hospital to give Jack some goodies. She couldn't have been that bad since she was driving the car and not her husband, but by bedtime last night an ambulance was taking her away. I couldn't make out any details between the distance and the dark, but I hope she'll be okay. Jack is so disappointed when he runs over to her house and there is no one to greet him and give him treats.

That's the advantage of free healthcare. You guys really should think about getting some over there. Connie will stay in hospital as long as she needs to be there, and not leave before she's ready because she can't afford the fees!

Okay, it does have its down side, like having to wait three to six months for a routine operation, and even wait up to three months for an urgent one, having to share a ward with a whole bunch of nut-jobs, one of whom is refusing to do any sort of exercise so they have to get a crane to physically remove her from the bed so they can make it, and another who is so senile she has no idea where she is and gets up to go walkies in the middle of the night, and then tries to get back into the wrong bed... Fortunately not Connie's...!

But on the whole, a free healthcare system is well worth it. As long as it's looked after properly.

Now, there is no such thing as "free", especially when most of what it's costing you in taxes is going toward a bloated Government bureaucracy. There are plenty of perfectly good healthcare plans available here, but most people don't buy into them because they have already been brainwashed by their employers who use "cost" as an excuse to slowly rob the employees of benefits or my Government Bureaucrats who want... well... more bureaucracy... "Free" just means your taxes are supporting that person who has no incentive to get some exercise because their healthcare is "free" too ( ... )

Depends what his salary is. 11% of £5,000,000 is £550,000. 11% of nothing is nothing! The difference being that it costs you the same percentage whichever end of the scale you are at!
