Last book you hated? - Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer. I was prepared for it to be bad, but THAT BAD?
Just out of idle curiosity, what was it that you disliked so much about Twilight? I ask because I've had various people push the book at me repeatedly as being better than Laurel K. Hamilton's novels. (Though, frankly, this is NOT the approach to take if one wishes to sell me on the idea of reading Meyer's books).
The narrator and the prose. Seperately, they would have been enough for me to hate it. Put together, and... no. Just No. The prose is overblown and boring, and the narrator is a whiny teenager I just couldn't feel any sympathy for. She moves to Washington to live with her Dad, who's bought her a truck so she can get around more easily, and the first thing she does is think "OH NOES! YOU CAN'T HAVE! How can you POSSIBLY know which one is coolest?" I call that charming.
So, yeah. That was 5 pages in. Already. Besides, you know. VAMPIRES DO NOT SPARKLE. *cringes*
Ahahaha! Now I have an image of Dracula dressed up in an Elvis suit and crooning, "Well, it ain't no fun with the sun around. I get going when the sun goes down, and I'm with my baby."
