So,
GoS has been taken offline. Why? Someone at TSR wrote to their server, GoDaddy, and told them that GoS was redistributing copyrighted content. As per their procedures, GoDaddy has taken the site down for now. This kind of sucks for everyone at GoS, and yet again shows that those at TSR really have their heads firmly up their asses

But how does TSR expect to police every single website out there? I think it would get to be too much effort eventually. TSR, you had your day. Now just stop trying to hold onto everything and let it go... sheesh!

If the sims2 fans can get a grip on the fact that the Golden Days have passed, the lame ass cc fan sites need to get with the program, too.

They must have been lurking at GoS a lot recently as mediafire links in the TSR threads were dying very rapidly. I'm not sure what triggered the letter but like Nymphy and I have said Liegen and the mods are not prepared to roll over and die, GoS will be back soon.

I guess the lack of attention was affecting Thomas and Atwa, considering no one had mentioned anything about TSR since the massive information sharing wank from last year. No secrets, no discussions (well, except for the Newsea thing), it was as if they were gone for good (I wish!).
And considering that their specialty is to upset the Free-site side of the Sims community by targeting well known creators and forums, I am not surprised they did this.
I think they are doing this for attention and not because GOS were really affecting their sales. I wish that was the case, if course, but there are tons of people unaware that selling CC is illegal, so they stay within the EA-TSR circle and get their content from them. Man, are they missing some neat stuff!

When you see a TSR link, right click on it and go to Copy Link Location. Then, paste the url in the browser window and click on the green arrow. You'll be able to go to the page you want at TSR. :)
(Thomas, it's so cute how you keep trying to foil us. *pat pat* However, like all your endeavors, it's made of FAIL).

Better question: Why is everyone turning a blind eye to TSR? They've stolen, they've hacked, and now this. There's no reason to get all Big Brother kill-them-all on us just because their (crappy) stuff is so damn important. Apparently there are no laws on the internet for punishing people who insist upon having their way at all costs. That information-sharing crap was beyond ridiculous.
If I may ask, is it possible to legally get GOS back without them having it shut down again? They seem almost ruthless at this point.

AFAIK they'll be changing servers and putting everything back up soon.

Sure, it's shitty that it just happened now based on something from TSR, but it could have easily been anyone else--from a no-name paysite owner whinging to some annoyed ex-member making up a beef to get them TOS'ed. GoDaddy fucking sucks, end of story.
So I hope that TSR doesn't feel any sense of accomplishment. Any of us could have probably written something to GoDaddy and gotten the same effect, because GoDaddy SUCKS.

....plus, I want to know why they rip the sites down as opposed to investigating the matter...
