I went to watch the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 with my friend today. It was an okay movie, followed the book quite well. As far as I can remember.
I get scared rather easily. I can hardly remember the last time I saw a movie and didn't jump. This time I jumped when the snake attacked Harry and Hermione. My friend got startled ( Read more... )

Yay! I was hoping that you would comment 'cause I really wanted to know how it is in Polish. ^.^

"Kalkaros" doesn't really mean anything. Kalkkarokäärme is a rattlesnake[but kalkkaro doesn't mean rattle, but käärme means snake], so I think that that's something the translator was thinking.
At least I thought about the connection with the name and the snake the first time I read it.

That's really interesting!
We have nothing like that, no words that come from the history or culture.
And thestrals are actually thestrals. Probably because the plural form sound okay in Finnish too[thestralit].
