I went to watch the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 with my friend today. It was an okay movie, followed the book quite well. As far as I can remember.
I get scared rather easily. I can hardly remember the last time I saw a movie and didn't jump. This time I jumped when the snake attacked Harry and Hermione. My friend got startled

Yay! I was hoping that you would comment 'cause I really wanted to know how it is in Polish. ^.^

"Kalkaros" doesn't really mean anything. Kalkkarokäärme is a rattlesnake[but kalkkaro doesn't mean rattle, but käärme means snake], so I think that that's something the translator was thinking.
At least I thought about the connection with the name and the snake the first time I read it.

That's really interesting!
We have nothing like that, no words that come from the history or culture.
And thestrals are actually thestrals. Probably because the plural form sound okay in Finnish too[thestralit].

It such a long time ago that I read LotR and I have read it only in Finnish [but I plan on reading it in English], so I'm not sure how much of it is translated and changed from the original. Shire and Frodo Baggings are Kontu and Frodo Reppuli.
A hobbit is "hobitti" and an ent is "entti". It's the same thing as your "testral". :)

But a bad translation can really ruin a lot :/
