Saw Coraline yesterday evening. It was fantastic! Not nearly so creepy as the book, but very faithful to the spirit of things. I loved the animation style, and the demo at the end of the credits was fascinating. Sarah and I went to see Superman Returns last night for the 9p show. I thought it was funny, and I thought Kevin Spacey played a great Lex Luthor, but there were parts that really bothered me, too.

Today, we saw Brokeback Mountain, which I think is one of the saddest movies I've ever seen. (It finally came to State College this weekend). There is so much estrangement and pain between the characters, and it all feels very real. This story could definitely take place in rural America. Star Trek: The Motion Picture is like 2001: A Space Odyssey plus the Original Series cast. It lacks the avant garde cinematography of 2001, and contains bad acting by just about the entire crew.
