Abortion clinic bomb attempt
On Thursday, a bomb was found in the parking lot of an Austin, TX abortion clinic. A man was arrested, and has been charged with "use of weapons of mass destruction, manufacture of explosive material and violating freedom of access to clinic entrances"(source). This has been pursued by local and federal law enforcement

I can attest to the "praising your kids for their intelligence backfiring massively" thing. All my life I've been told I was smart without ever actually believing it. The only times that my parents praised my efforts was in band and that's the only thing I was ever really confident about in high school. Every other time it was "you're smart, you should get a 100 on everything." Yeah. No pressure there. No wonder I bombed in college.
