I remember reading the Hobbit and the first of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I never got around to reading the other two. And that was when I was around 14, and I'm 38 now. So I guess they were good because I read them, but not good enough to finish reading them.
Going by the movies, everyone warned me that The Hobbit wasn't that great, so I didn't see it. The Lord of the Ring trilogy was great, though.
