fannish charity, memetics, and booklogging

Since the number of post-it note reminders I have stuck up on the wall by the computer is beginning to get overwhelming, I figure it's time to go ahead and put a few of them in a post like I've been planning to do.

1. Fannish charity efforts

Booklogging is a good thing, last semester I got into the habit on LibaryThing for one of my classes but haven't gotten back into it.

I think I might use LibraryThing to just record what I read and do reviews on my journal.

Also question, do you have any idea when you might be bringing Nick in?

I am fond of LibraryThing as a place to list all my books, but haven't used it for much else.

As for Nick -- barring any more bouts with sudden illness or surprise grant proposals, I am aiming for tomorrow night (Friday)!

ETA: Ha ha, my brain is not working yet. As for the "one reason" part -- your constant optimism and the way you share your enjoyment of books, characters, and just various things about life in general is delightful.

I had to use it for my book reviews last semester and now I forget to list things there. So I think I"m going to try a place in between there and my journal for book reviews since I like doing it.

Yay for tomorrow! I'll probably tag him with Jane.

Do it do it do it! I selfishly demand more booklogging on my flist. :O

(also ahahaha dude, don't even compare my babblings with Gramarye's actual thoughtful, considerate reviews.)

But but but I have been so slackful in writing reviews of late! And your babblings are quite considerate, and frequently more entertaining than mine! *minor flail*

(Seriously, more people need to booklog. Even if it's just a sentence or two of 'here's what I'm reading; this is why it's awesome/it's drek'. I can think of several books that I'd never have found without the help of the flist!)

I probably will. And as I recall, you have demanded this of me before!

(Why not? Gramarye herself makes a good case, above.)

One reason I like you is because of your endlessly quirky sense of humor. :)

Funny that. Wonder if it's coincidence? ;)

One reason I like you is for your great focus and brilliant creativity.

You should absolutely booklog.

I should also booklog, but the problem is, when I start trying to formally collect my thoughts on books, they end up feeling like work. This is possibly because my work is pretty much My Thoughts On Books anyway. So I keep being afraid that if I start booklogging, I'll spoil my pleasure in reading for fun.

Which is to say that I totally support everyone else's booklogging, because I really enjoy that.

I probably will. One reason I haven't is that so many of my books these days are rereads or total fluff that doesn't resemble actual work, and it just seems odd to talk about them.

One reason I like you is because of your insightful persistence. :)
