Today's subject line is a quote from St. David (c. 590, or thereabouts), and translates as "Do the little things in life." It's a phrase I ran across in a newsletter from the Welsh society out here, and as a snippet of wisdom and a piece of advice both, I'm fond of it ( Read more... )

Sounds a little like the Zen saying:

Before Enlightenment,

After Enlightenment,

Another friend of mine, in an unrelated post, made note of the Reiki creed:

Just for today, do not anger.

I like that one, too.

*grins, before actually getting to the meat of the post* I knew that had to be Middle Welsh (as opposed to any other dialect). I knew because I can read it.

I am sure you can succeed in Doing Things this week.

... somehow it does not surprise me at all that you can read Middle Welsh. You can read Middle Lots-of-Languages, can't you? :)

And the full update is yet to come, but as of today I have met with committee chair and things are on track, and all the deadline pieces that HAD to happen this week have now been met.

Which is extremely good news, of course.

I started studying it last fall. Didn't I tell you about the class? I'm sure I babbled to anyone who would listen about how my Middle Welsh professor has a huge friendly white poodle named Cafall.

Three cheers for deadlines and committee things being on track!

I remember the Cafall conversation now! I had simply forgotten the subject of the class. *facepalm*

Definitely on track. I'll be detailing out the full schedule soon, but right now I'm still floating on the cloud of YAY ON TRACK.

So far, so good! Today's meeting went about five times better than I was expecting, so things are looking up a lot.

I am both optimistic and determined, now.
