my love/hate relationship with tivo

This little machine can both brighten my day with surprises and be a source of incredible frustration all at the same time. Consider, for example, last night's Doctor Who marathon...

What's Great: Finding out after all but half of one episode of the marathon has aired that there was a marathon in the first place-- BUT that TiVo has thoughtfully ( Read more... )

They are all available if you wanna see it now. *coughs*

Also, I felt horrible for that Dalek. *shamed* "Are you frightened, Rose Tyler?" "Yes." "So am I."

*hangs head in shame*

Villain, victim and rescuer all change roles at least once. And let me go on the record again as comparing it to "Duet" and "I, Borg" (and agreeing with z_gryphon's assessment that Kosh's character-arc is the B5 equivalent).

You are nicer than I! Or else I was horribly influenced by just having read TPofW-threaded version in Milliways, as well as seeing the episode.

(Sunlight. Pity. Augh.)

And re: your first point... so I have now discovered. *gleeful*

Icons. I must make icons.

*beamy faces* Icons are love! *is making set* *is making many sets, mind you, and slow, but still*

Pretty pretty Ten. *glazed eyes*

...Me, shallow, whut.

I've had that happen before, but on a different channel and only occasionally. I suspect it's a broadcast thing, not necessarily a TiVo thing. In any case, it's not happening with Doctor Who, which is very good.

The one thing that really got to me with the Dalek was when it was demanding that Rose order it to die, and shouting "OBEY!" at her. Because there's no power behind the screechy-voice demanding anymore, and it's really at her mercy, but it's a Dalek and it doesn't know how to ask for something instad of demanding it, and that somehow makes it, like, ten times more pitiable than it would have been otherwise. For me, at least.

Anyway. Even with that, "The Parting of the Ways" does pretty well bring the Dalek hate. Poor Lynda with a y.

Yes. It is by nature pitiable, but I find myself very clearly aware of the part where things went so very bad in the Time War ... *sigh* Some pity, yes. Because it is pitiful and pitiable, but that doesn't make it less dangerous.

It's the Doctor's reaction that broke my heart. Multiple times.

One of the strangest and funniest moments in my life...maybe you had to be there... using radio equipment in Nunavut which makes everyone sounds like Daleks, to recite Dalek lines into the empty ether. Why was this funny? I haven't a clue, but you get a little giddy after a while out on the Tundra. (Fortunately, no one replied. Which hopefully means no one heard us.)

... I am just giggling at the image.

(And yes, hopefully. Especially no Daleks!)

AHEM.

Ace would like to say: "TOLD YOU SO."

But you knew that. :D

Of course!!! :) *beams at you*

(Also. If I were to be hunting certain things involving the Seventh Doctor and Ace, is the title "Silver Nemesis" something I should be looking for in particular?)
