Good heavens. How is it that today I have 1) slept in, 2) showered, 3) gone to Whole Foods, and 4) watched The Philadelphia Story with friends, and all I want to do is take a nap? Pathetic ( Read more... )

Whatever you do, please don't cut your bangs super short like Carey Mulligan!! (Wait, do I need to do that opposite thing with you? Cut your bangs! NNOOOO, I don't mean it. Really. Don't cut your fabulous bangs.)

Hee, I won't--they actually look pretty terrible when they're not all done up in the movie; it's just that they look SO FANTASTIC when she's all fancy-schmancy. I appreciate your concern, though. Heh.

Still can't figure out why Don would have to beg Weenie Pete to join the new firm, but whatever.

Pete continues to be my favorite, despite being generally despisable--the more misguided they make him, the more I love him. It's a problem.

I'd have more of it on my face and shirt than in my eye.I have a long history of being terrible with eyedrops. I remember (during my many, many childhood bouts with pinkeye) requiring both parents to get them into my eyes--one to pin me down, and the other to do the actual dropping. Now, I find that the key is to go for the lower lid, not the upper. It's not so bad, though still slightly ( ... )

You should read Slam. I agree with you about How to Be Good, and even A Long Way Down, but Slam is great. It takes awhile to get in to, but I really enjoyed it once I got past the hump.

I'm open to this; also, what I REALLY want to read--what sounds to me like a vast improvement--is his newest book, Juliet Naked. I liked what he said to Terry Gross about it, anyway. It was a good interview all around.

I know! How can tomorrow be a work day?

Although, I could probably get used to a break in the middle of the week. Oh, how much writing I could do!

I know! A writing day in the middle of each week? I would get sooo much done (and possibly write less non-work stuff at work. Heh.)!

Also, it's just so much more manageable to tell yourself you only have to work in two-day increments.

(Actually, some government agencies are going to four-day weeks to save on energy and such. I don't think it's such a terrible idea--a three-day weekend every weekend!--though the 4/10 schedule would be tough.)

Oh you government types and your days off in the middle of the week! Actually I was thinking about this, and although I wouldn't turn a day off down, I'm still kind of glad I didn't have one. It would totally mess with my already non-existent momentum.

As for top 30 Rock moments, there are two that stick in my mind. And I don't even remember what episodes they are from. (1) There is Liz and her pink pajamas. (2) And there is the episode where Jack does all the impersonations of various people in Tracy's family, and it is HILARIOUS.

Fair enough. There IS something of the "this is a fake work week" vibe about it, certainly.

HA! Awesome. "I feel like I'm in a rap video!"

And there is the episode where Jack does all the impersonations of various people in Tracy's family, and it is HILARIOUS.

Got it! It's such an obvious Emmy-bid moment, and yet I basically love anytime Alec Baldwin gets to play someone else on that show. (OMG, Thomas Jefferson on Jerry Springer? BEST THING EVER.) It kind of breaks my heart that he spent so many years doing the grade-B leading-man thing, when his calling was so obviously to age a little bit and be a comedian.

BONES TONIGHT YAY YAY YAY! That is what my heart is saying, Heather.

Yours and mine both, Liz. It is the hour I wait for all week long! And I honestly know nothing about tonight's episode except for the brief snippets I have seen on fastforward on DVR with a boxing rink or some such?

Also, did you watch Glee last night? Because I had my doubts about that show at first, but SO MUCH LOVE.

Same here, and also it's a charmingly Brennan move to use the term "boxing rink." Heh. Typo, schmypo.

I looooved it. Because, Kurt! Singing! "Defying Gravity!" And also Artie, and Artie and Tina, and heartbreaking Jane Lynch, and Puuuuck. I just love them all. A lot.
