I'm back at work today, sad to be back but also a little bit glad to take a quick break from my hosting duties--yesterday, I left Al and her husband Paul to spend an extra day in New York and have taken the opportunity to listen to my own music (loudly) and eat my own food (crackers and cheese and applesauce for dinner--I didn't think it was

Have to say, I can kinda see Al's point re the Strand. :-) Not that we don't love you for it. I know very few people you *can* trust to come out of a bookstore in a set period of time. And who wants to be around them?
I really must get myself to NY one of these days. I proposed to Christine that we have a working vacation for you know what - and maybe that could be us coming out to see you and heading down to NY and going to the Met and not coming out for long periods? She seemed amenable. Though I know hostessing does take its toll on you. :-)

Well, this is true. :) And, to be fair, it goes both ways--I'd kind of rather go alone anyway, and be free to do my thing. Mostly, I just can't believe I've been to New York four times since November and haven't made it to the store at all!

Well, but you guys are easy! You eat anything, enjoy watching BBC costume dramas (and other things), and are plenty adventurous about getting out and doing stuff. My aunt and uncle say I can come and bring friends whenever I want...

OK! Must discuss! Sent you another email about that thing that keeps us together. Which I wish we had a project code for, btw. Oh, the Key influence! Oh, my lazy fingers!

And you should totally come back so we can see 9 to 5. I'm aching to go back, I just don't have the funds right now. (Job, please?)

Exactly!

Yeah, I've got cash-flow problems for this as well right now, but maybe when I've caught up? That would be so much fun! (Also, Al and Paul came home last night and were all, "We saw 9 to 5!" And then I cried. (Not really. But I could have.)

Glad you still managed to have a good time, though I shake my fist at Jon Stewart for overbooking. (I'm sure he has nothing to do with it, but I do so anyway!)

Ah, I hadn't heard. But it does make me feel a little better.

Precisely. Mmmmm, eighteen miles of books. And cute tote bags!

But New York does still have so much to offer, and it sounds like you found plenty to enjoy. And don't forget, if you want to head up for a weekend, we have a futon!

I may well take you up on this sometime--I actually had thought at the last minute about adding one extra night to my trip up there, and since I didn't want to pay for a hotel, I was all, "but I could stay with "lj user="nicolemack">..." But then I ended up coming back Tuesday anyway.
But maybe next time!
