We made it down to New York with everything intact

I'm back at work today, sad to be back but also a little bit glad to take a quick break from my hosting duties--yesterday, I left Al and her husband Paul to spend an extra day in New York and have taken the opportunity to listen to my own music (loudly) and eat my own food (crackers and cheese and applesauce for dinner--I didn't think it was ( Read more... )

I'm sorry you didn't get in! I was so looking forward to your thoughts of Jon Stewart *in the flesh.* But at least you managed to have a good time.

Have to say, I can kinda see Al's point re the Strand. :-) Not that we don't love you for it. I know very few people you *can* trust to come out of a bookstore in a set period of time. And who wants to be around them?

I really must get myself to NY one of these days. I proposed to Christine that we have a working vacation for you know what - and maybe that could be us coming out to see you and heading down to NY and going to the Met and not coming out for long periods? She seemed amenable. Though I know hostessing does take its toll on you. :-)

Well, this is true. :) And, to be fair, it goes both ways--I'd kind of rather go alone anyway, and be free to do my thing. Mostly, I just can't believe I've been to New York four times since November and haven't made it to the store at all!

Well, but you guys are easy! You eat anything, enjoy watching BBC costume dramas (and other things), and are plenty adventurous about getting out and doing stuff. My aunt and uncle say I can come and bring friends whenever I want...

OK! Must discuss! Sent you another email about that thing that keeps us together. Which I wish we had a project code for, btw. Oh, the Key influence! Oh, my lazy fingers!

Well, you know...Christine is going to Rhode Island during the week of my birthday, and that's not SO far from New York, and it's not like she doesn't have any extra vacation days, and also my birthday falls on a Monday, which means I could take a long weekend, and it would be super fun.

That was my persuasive run-on sentence. Effective, no?

!!! This sounds very tempting! Let's talk about soon!

Did you know your bday is on Summer Bank Holiday in the UK? Very clever of you.

Why, thank you! I...chose it myself?

In any case, I think I should get it off. It's a national holiday (...somewhere else)!
