Some of my friends are atheists.  The Teen has decided she's an atheist.  My husband is an atheist.

I'm a Christian.

This makes me feel funny.

Not peculiar in the sense of "ew, icky atheists;"  but in the sense that I identify as a Christian?  Really?  I identify with the dominant religious group in this country?  WTF?

Kinda snuck up on me there....

christianity, religion

Well, maybe you've read your Exodus and Deuteronomy and know that the Old Testament was filled with examples of how people--individually and society--should care for the poor. Or that Jesus frequently said he came for the poor, that you should invite the poor to your feasts instead of the rich, and so on. Maybe you're a Social Justice Christian, just like Jesus was. :)

Well, the Koran says that too.

My beloved parkingprincess and I are Christians, but Kelly has decided to make up her own (polytheist) religion instead. I can't deny this distresses me. (I never doubted what I was; just took a while to make the migration from Southern Baptist to Quaker.)

Don't let the haters of the politico-cultural right-wing blind you to the messages taught by our Savior. Too many people love Him (or would, if they were allowed to hear His message), but are disgusted and misled by some members of His fanclubs.

Serious Christianity is not the dominant force in our society; a muscular, politicized, hypocritical and oddly secularized Churchianity dominates in its name.

Hey, I was a necked Baptist at a pagan festival. Twice even!

Plus I'm quoted in a amicus brief that MN Atheists have filed with the state of MN.
