Football and blithering on about House

Nov 30, 2007 02:27

First, a match report. I went to the Lane to watch Spurs play my *other* favourite team, the almost unknown Aalborg Boldklub. Perhaps a recap is in order: My Dad is Danish (and from just northwest of Aalborg), my sister married a Dane whose entire family are fanatical AaB supporters and then they moved to Aalborg. Yep, I was in a bit of a quandary ( Read more... )

I'm not much for posting meta either (and I just realised that I wrote 'the closets of relationships'...whoops, editing) but I've really been pondering what the hell is going on between them. I couldn't understand why Wilson went back to prescribing and bantering and all the rest after MLC as if he'd learned absolutely nothing. Well, at least I fanwank it into place.

i'm afraid i'm going to disappoint you here, because--as you said at the beginning--our disagreement on the house-wilson dynamic is total, and you've already read my opinions, and my rationales for said opinions, so there's no sense retyping them [or being really lazy and copy/pasting 'em!].

i do find your opinions and rationales intriguing--i'm fascinated because i feel as if we're watching two different shows--with, it follows, two sets of characters.

we do agree on this--House does believe he deserves each negative thing that happens to him, whether it be by his own hand, wilson's, or just by the nasty universe in general.

and--in the spirit of bluntness--i'll admit to my protectiveness, if you will, of house--but i must stridently disagree that i have ever thought of him, or portrayed him, as 'blameless.' and if that's your take on my portrayal, then i have major work to do on my characterization skills [ironically, i was already thinking that that's the case, momements before your post reply came in ( ... )

I might have taken it a bit too far. Perhaps 'blameless' isn't the right word. It might be the choice of subject rather than the characterisation itself. You often write stories in which Wilson is suddenly made aware of the indignities and pain House suffers through Wilson's actions, which means that House must be in a position to have been wronged. That tilts the 'normal' balance of the show somewhat and makes House come across differently. Anyway...go! Rest! Get better (or at least less pained)! We'll talk later *hugs*

Okay, I'm a complete pillock. I just heard that someone's been making arses of themselves your LJ - I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to read the story, but better pull it than be trolled. I'm sorry if I've come across as overly critical. I hope you're okay.

yes, thanks--much better [and a bit more sane] this morning. and... although the story is back up now, i can't, in good conscience, suggest that you read it--unless you want more ammo for the points you've previously made about my take on their relationship! *g*

i'm starting to realize that i often project my own wishful thinking about myself, and my condition, and my dependence on opioids, onto house--and i most definitely tread this distorted territory when my own discomfort is [as it very clearly was yesterday] at its worst. the best i can do here is promise to try to become more self-aware, and work at controlling that. and i will.

thank you, dear--and *hugs* back!
