Let me first begin by saying I love fanfic. It’s not my guiltiest pleasure, but it’s one of my favorites. There’s nothing like reading a well-written fic to fill in the blanks left by your favorite show. And who doesn’t like smut…? But there are some really unconscionable things I see going down in fanfic, and I’d like to get them off my chest:

"Tell me what should happen next?"
I always want to tell those people, "You sit down and figure out where your plot is going!" ;)

He does in his usual interaction with fans, but I was referring to the mole hunt. You give me reviews, I give you a new chapter. You give away your spoiler source, I'll give you an autograph from Hugh Laurie. Same difference, except that GY's awards are better! ;)

1. Being forced to friend a person just to read their fic because they f-lock it, even though they linked to it from a community. What's the purpose of this? To gain friends? HELLO, THERE ARE FRIENDING MEMES FOR A REASON.
2. Epithets. I HATE epithets. Is Wilson really going to think of House as "the blue-eyed doctor"? Is House really going to think of Wilson as "the oncologist" or "the younger man"? I doubt it, unless they have Alzheimer's and can't remember who their best friend is.
3. Slash, wherein Wilson needs to have his inner vagina removed. Or just slash in general - I used to enjoy slash until I could no longer stand how heteronormative it all is.
Bah. No wonder I stopped reading fanfic a long time ago, lol.

3. I used to enjoy slash until a large portion of disgruntled slash writers in my favorite fandom started using their fics as platforms for misogyny. Idiocy is free, but that doesn't mean I'll read it.

I still read fanfiction, but I reserve the right to bitch about it, as well. ;)
