Try using ice to cool down the swell (or you could do like the Chinese do and use hot, peeled hard-boiled egg and roll it over the bruise. My mum used this method on my dad when he fell down a couple of weeks ago and had a similar injury)
And wow, the bystanders are so kind and helpful. Reminds me of the time when I fell chin down with my toddler cousin in the middle of a busy shopping complex and NO ONE came to help us. My cousin was crying and I had a cut under my chin, and there weren't even an ounce of sympathy from anyone. It was bad wake-up call for me as I realised how screwed up this country is /rant
Anyway, it's amazing that you can demand charges from the municipality. Here, you can die in the middle of the street and no one would bat an eyelash. (I exaggerate but you get the picture :/).

I send them the complaint today, and the dude on the phone yesterday said it might take up to 6 weeks to finish this...... And the city should but I doubt it :|
