[Sexuality] Why talk about it?

Feb 18, 2009 13:49

So, I got a question anonymously about why I am so open about talking about my sexuality. I figured it was worth addressing, so I'm gonna take a quick shot.

Sexuality: why talk about it? )

pride, headspace, sexuality

I don't always comment on your posts related to sexuality, but I enjoy reading them and I value your willingness to be that open. I see the importance of it, both the visibility and the lack of shame.

Plus, honestly - I'm learning things from your posts. DO and other things like that...I've wondered about them and I'm interested, but have never had a window on them before. I like having that.

Long comment short, thank you for sharing these things with me and with others. I do think it's important on personal and more societal levels.

A big YES to all of this.

If they don't like it, they don't have to read it.

I'd be interested in reading our thoughts on that.

Amen. Until I burnt a close friend with her family, something for which she and I are still paying for years later, I left my journal open. So now I just try to be as open as I can be for my friends, and those that my friends direct to me. Still a wide net, but not nearly as wide as it used to be.

I'm new to reading you, but I think this is wonderful. It's great that you feel open enough about your sexuality to talk about it, and not just for my own prurient interests. :-P
