I think it's a good idea. I'm worried that aliens will = terrorists, but if they don't go that route, I'm totally in.

The press about this has been overwhelmingly positive since the announcement, even from the hardcore fanboy sites, so that's a really good sign. :D That said, it hasn't even started production yet so we'll have to see how things progress.

I'm hoping that, yeah, they'll stick more to the original in terms of how the aliens are portrayed instead of going for the easy & anvilly route. The guy who is writing it was also responsible for the somewhat terroristic elements that were in The 4400, but I think he'll do V justice in the end.
