Beyond annoyed with the girl child

It was pouring rain last night so I left my bike at work and got a ride home. This morning I asked if I could get a lift back if she had time before work. She said yes depending on when I would be ready. I said 15 minutes. She went upstairs so I finished cleaning up her mess in the kitchen and waited - but not long because I wanted to get in early ( Read more... )

How freaking RUDE. If she didn't intend to do it, she shouldn't have said she was going to.

It was, but she said she could do it just as I was stomping out of the house. I could have waited but then we would have both been grumpy and stressed. And she texted later to apologize. She’s actually a pretty good kid almost all the time. And I am as much to blame for my grumpy mood. I could have avoided it by being more graceful.

Damn, you clean up her mess for her and get treated so disrespectfully in return?! :(

Yeah - it’s so rare it shocks me every time. It took her until she was well into her teens before she even spoke back. Given that she has dealt with huge anxiety issues and self harm because she internalizes so much, I am mostly mad at myself for handling it badly when she said she could drive me as I was stomping out the door. She did text me an apology later.

It sounds like a balancing act, but I'm glad she apologized.

I am over children behaving disrespectfully. Is this your car she was using or one she bought herself?

I am tired of getting home from working all day to be snapped at by people who fell out of bed at noon and played video games all day. If anyone gets to be a bitch in this house, it should be me. Or you in yours. :)

It was my car - she didn’t actually need it for work (she rides her bicycle) so she would have had to drive back to the house and switch to the bike.

I would be tired of that too. She is working full-time now, and doing a summer school course, so she is legitimately busy, and a bit stressed because she should have started getting paid no later than early June, but she still can’t get into the system to log her hours (no, it isn’t Phoenix, but many City employees are having the same problem). She has started helping around the house a lot more (even washes floors!).

Nonetheless, we are the ones who deserve to bitches in our homes :).
