How versatile is a teaching credential? Can you teach *anything* *anywhere* once you have one? Because one year that opens up many flexible career options which would sate your inner adventurer seems like well-spent time. Don't ignore the inner adventurer, but do find that stability/adventure balance, not only for your own personal happiness, but for the success of your household.
But if you're having a problem with "mind-numbingly repetitive" things now, teaching might also disappoint you, so I think the bigger problem to solve (that might even help with your current job) is not giving up when one aspect of something doesn't thrill, chill and fulfill you, and doing new, clever things with the same materials and information to keep it interesting and meaningful for yourself.
Despite all the emotions speeding around your head it sounds like you have a fabulous plan and the balance you seek will come. Maybe even finding fun day trips to take would be a good thing to do. A few brief encounters with adventure to tide you over until you have the teacher job. Over all though it seems like you are on your way to really finding a place that works for you. As much as this is a kind of itchy period it's also a beautiful transition.
(I don't know what's going on with me today.. clearly I'm optimist and peace loving. Anyway lots of love your way sugar I will keep you in my meditations)
Yay Northridge - the school i love to hate to love!!! And just a small note: even though teachers seem like the ultimant authorrity figure - every teacher i know - from preschool teachers to professors (and trust me i know alot) - are the least adult, mundane, spirit broken-professional type people that i've ever known... they are alive and well and wonderful- you make a good one of those :)
