Oh, I like your new layout! :) Yay for writing something you like ... I think that's one of the biggest hurdles to get over sometimes. Writing for yourself is all well and good, but sometimes I write such crap ... yech! When I really like something, it really all falls into place.
I think you're right about being weird about something. I'm excited about PoP, but I won't see it until it comes out on DVD. I don't have anyone to go the theater to see it with and it's too depressing to me to go alone. I hope it's good, I want it to be successful for Jake. I'm sure and Jill will have a good time no matter what. :)
I so wanted to go to Boston for the Brokie gathering, especially since they're going to do a screening of BBM. I've never seen it on the big screen. Maybe someday.
i haven't seen bbm on the big screen either, so i was really disappointed that i couldn't work it out. but oh well, maybe there will be another opportunity.
i'm sorry you don't haveanyone to go see POP with. none of your friends would suck it up and take a chance on it?? if i wasn't going to see it with jill, i might see it alone. my husband would take death by lethal injection over seeing a jbg movie... he hates him that bad. *sigh*
anyway... i hope you are still writing. i'm glad to have something going on. i really miss posting, but i hate the pressure of it, so i'm not going to post till this story is done.
It doesn't matter if this film get great reviews, lukewarm reviews or out and out bad reviews. This is the type of movie that is critic-proof. It's a summer movie...NOT to be taken THAT seriously. I'm sure it's going to be make millions and millions and be a huge hit. It's going to be another success for Jerry. The Walt Disney Studio will be thrilled and Jake will finally have a mammoth box-office hit film that pretty much stands on his shoulders...if you take away the fact this is more a Jerry Bruckheimer Production then a Jake Gyllenhaal film.
Just buy your popcorn...close your mind...and pray that Jake has a number of shirtless scenes in which he shows off his hard, sweaty muscles. And believe me that is a MAJOR attraction to the film at least for us gay boys - and there's nothing wrong with that. LOL.
you're right, George. folks who like this type of movie will go, regardless. i've just seen a lot of negative chatter on the internet about it, and if it doesn't get good words right away, i think that will hurt it. folks will just skip it for other stuff. however, i agree with the lure of shirtless jbg. i'm very excited about seeing him looking so hot, and his personality in the film seems totally awesome, based on the trailers i've seen so far!
i'm sure the gay boys will love it. poor jake, he's ya'll's fave, no matter what he does!! LOL!!
I think you might be putting the cart before the horse in regard to POP. Okay that critic gave the film a lukewarm review. But that was just the first review that we know of and just how influential that review from someone who I've never heard of is definitely up to debate. We have basically another three weeks before POP opens and the reviews from the more influential critics (the NY papers, LA Times, the Chicago papers, Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, etc) may actually enjoy the film.
Don't let one review from probably an unimportant critic get you down. And besides...even if all the critics hate the movie...what really matters if the audience loves it and if they do and make the film a hit who cares what the critics thinks?!
George. Part of what i thought was interesting about that review was the fact that it was some no-name person - at least someone i've never heard of - who has no dog in this fight. They don't care one way or another - they just saw the movie and gave their - what seemed to me to be - honest and unbiased opinion. Of course, some other person might see it and enjoy it much more or much less, but i guess i'm just worried because most of what i hear that isn't hype or fangurl squeeing (for lack of a better term) is very ho-hum
( ... )
That is too bad about PoP. I had high hopes for it, what with the commercials on TV, and Jake really does need a fantastic comeback role. All his recent movies are almost comparable to the old-time "spaghetti westerns". It's good to see you back and enjoying writing again. Are you referring to your post not so long ago, for your new novel you'd like published? Seeing as 'ameliabird' asked about "Looking Back", you had posted 'cwby30' winning game: "A Love From Down Under - Part Four"..saying.."The Epilogue should be up in a couple of days, then I plan to get back to BFF.".....Is that still the plan? That would be wonderful to read the epilogue of a wonderful story!
A Love From Down Under is sep from the story AKL, which is what Cowboy30 won the ending of. However, i just was so NOT in the mood to write at the time of that event that i didn't finish the contest prize. i got half of it done but could not go further.
i'm currently working on a au!rps that i'm not posting - i did post the first chapter here in this lj - 2 versions - to get some input from you guys, but otherwise, jill and karla are the only one's from here who are reading it. i'll post it when it's done, and then hopefully get back to LB.
I DID THAT AGAIN!!!!! When I first got friended from you and read BBF, you asked me if I had read AKL. Then when I came back with the input of the story, you said the VERY SAME WORDS TO ME! Why that is so confusing to me, I DO NOT KNOW! lmao! BTW....ON "MY" BEHALF...This story STILL says: "The Epilogue should be up in a couple of days." LMAO! Maybe I am getting (?)OLD(?) and my mind is going. I wish I could just blame it on my forgetfulness from my accident!
Okay...I have a feeling my face is VERY red about now..... I know you had said you would post it, I guess I just thought a few chapters at a time. That's okay, I LIKE completed stories to read.
BUT, I am so happy you are starting to write again, whatever it is, as you are an awesome writer. You two have a GREAT trip. Make the most of it! Much Love, and a (((HUG))) from a ninny! Love, Cat.
sorry. i guess i should go back and change that post, or write the epilogue... that's a story i've considered reworking and submitting. it has lots of sex, which is popular in the ficton world! :)
