Not the ideal way to ring in the new year

So last night, after Bemo and I had spent a quiet evening watching all three That's Entertainment! movies on TCM, had gotten into bed, and were just about to turn off the lights (it was in the neighborhood of two am), my cell phone rang ( Read more... )

Little bastards. I hate it when people do things like that.

So, they thought they had to make noise to keep the evil spirits away at New Year, eh? Break some glass to do it? Grrr.... Any witnesses?

I hope none of the artwork (aside from the building itself) was damaged.

Thankfully, on the side of the building they chose, the two sculptures are nearer the center of the hall and were safe. They're also marble and stone, which means that hopefully if any small bits of glass did strike them, it wouldn't do much. The pedestal they sit on was free of shards, so I think they're fine.

Thankfully, they didn't choose the opposite side of the building, where we had several pieces out.

Are there cameras? They need to be caught and catch a stiff consequence. Maybe clean the museum's toilets daily for a year, plus keep your car waxed for next 5 years.

We have cameras inside, but I'm not sure they can see outside the museum to where the little bastards would have been standing.

It's going to cost a fortune to fix the windows, too. Lots of specially-ordered glass.

I guess our big expanses of glass are just too tempting to drunken mofos. They tossed one through a window of the neighboring performing arts center as well.

Ugh, Geni, what a disaster! People's behaviors shouldn't shock me anymore, but they still do. I just don't understand why people get pleasure out of destroying something that isn't theirs and really has nothing to do with them.
