Modern Overbust Low-Back Corset

I was commissioned to make an overbust, low-back corset. I'm still not 100% confident regarding my overbust drafting skills, so I suggested a bra-cup construction, thinking I could simply purchase the cup her size and not fret over bust fit ( Read more... )

Bra cups look good. Did you make them out of foam, or have purchased cups? This looks similar to the black and white underbust you had posted... a while ago. Very cool look.

And the low amount of reduction makes sense, since even the pillows want to spill out the back! ;-)

I used purchased bra cups from the fabric store, and pinned muslin to them until I got a fitting form. I think next time I will use a two-piece design, rather than the darts.

The person who ordered the corset saw the other underbust and wanted the same look to her corset. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it fits her well, but I am a little concerned about the measurements she sent. That's always the fear when doing a corset from measurements I did not take myself.

Word. People like to think that from pop culture sources there is such a thing as an Ideal Measurement, something to do with an hourglass figure. I know I was victim to it for a time, but I realize having ANY kind of figure well dressed is FAR more impressive than having a 18 year old's figure draped in bedsheets. ;-)
