I attended the Free Press Summerfest concert downtown yesterday, and I'll be returning for day two tonight. Finally Houston gets some enthusiastic well-attended music that isn't Tejano-that's something that has made me jealous of Austin and even Dallas, for ( Read more... ) -
I hate all Twitter clients
Does anyone have a suggestion? The best Mac Twitter client of the six I've tried is probably Tweetie-the interface is actually Mac, it is uncluttered and exposes lots of function intuitively without interface cruft, and I can tell someone smart and Apple-familiar thought hard about how every part should work, then put in the detail time ( Read more... ) -

Does anyone else here use Twitter? I've been persuaded to start an account, and I thought I'd ask around. (My twitter account is the same username as this LJ account if you're interested.) Now I'll have to think about the divide between what should be posted on each service. Tips? Thoughts? Insults? -
Good/bad
I was the weirdest kind of sick yesterday-can anyone tell me what it was? Sunday evening I felt fine, and then it came on very quickly. There are these geek hardware commune things called hacker spaces that people have been setting up. I'm not sure how interested I am, but it's greater than zero, and some people will be getting together to discuss starting one in Houston. Instead, I'm going to a country music concert at the largest rodeo in southern Harris County. Reba someone. Yeehaw. It's so obvious in hindsight
So I was musing about A/V standards and Apple products (as everyone naturally does from time to time), and I believe I've discovered a simple solution to a common problem. The latest Apple laptop model, and probably all their hardware going forward, only has DisplayPort for video output. Nothing else supports this; no one even makes third party ( Read more... ) -
I voted today
Why wait for the long lines on Nov 4 when you can vote now? (And they will be long.) I have cast mine-if you live in Houston, you can vote early any time between now and Halloween, including weekends it seems. Here's the list of locations and times.
