We were having a nice discussion in #prfic last night that made me revise and add to my letter to Matt a lot. I think it's about ready to be mailed out tomorrow. I'm not gonna transcribe the whole thing here, as it's all handwritten in my notebook and ready to be written out nicely on nice paper, but basically it's this: I introduce myself, write

#prfic is an IRC chatroom. I'm really not the best person to explain IRC, though...

#prfic is an IRC chat room completely and 100% open to the public; anyone can drop in and we encourage it. itsbuttery created it and angel_negra and I co-mod. Its started out as a chat room to provide fanfic help and support and a place to find betas and now its turned into a random hangout. We still offer fic support thou when we're not flashing each other or talking about naked Bridge.

This page will help you get started on IRC if you're on a PC. If you're on a mac, then I'd recommend Colloquy or Ircle as a client. Please note thou that Ircle has a 30 day usage limit and colloquy is freeware.

I'd personally love to see you there, the more fen the better.

On the subject of #prfic you could mention the network of fansites and misc that exist outside of Rangerboard. There's actually two pr wikis (ours and another one by Chris Funero's group), multiple PR archives (like the original Jenga one and Back to Action, plus Rangerfiction.net), other PR boards (PR United) LJ communities (PR Daily, SPDRangers, powerrangers, that pr icon one, the spandex report, spd stamp, mf, proo, the rr and so on). There's also PR RPGs, plus PPGs like TR and Fandom High that are multi-fandom and have multiple PR characters in it; TR has Cam and Hunter, Fandom High has Bridge, Sky, Z I think). Then there are contests like Hope for the World that celebrate PR fanfic and jade's other video contest....

Yeah I could go on and on...I really wish I had your bravery to write this, but I don't. I suck. :P

Duly noted. :) Thanks for the suggestions. That's actually a nicer way to end the letter instead of the rather sour note about how us grownupses are afraid to wear our fannishness on our sleeves and how it sucks that we have to hide.

Fandom High has Bridge, Sky, Z I think

Bridge, Z, Adam and Andros, currently. Not that applications are open until 12/15 and a Sky or Syd would be AWESOME or anything. Plus Tori and Conner are alumni, Tommy and Billy have been teachers, and Xander Bly was a summer student.
