Thank for sharing your wonderful evening..the theater is gorgeous, as is Susan Sarandon...your picture proves it's not all makeup and lighting.

"--the Orli fangirls were representin'" LOL...I bet they were..who in the hell doesn't know about Orlando Bloom? I saw him on Oprah the other day, he was so gracious..what a peach!

OMG. That theatre is absolutely gorgeous. Just wow. I'm a sucker when it comes to good old fashioned architecture.

And Susan Sarandon is equally gorgeous. She's an amazing actress and I'm looking forward to seeing her as much as I'm looking forward to seeing Orlando. Bull Durham is one of my all-time favourite movies (even though baseball is still a mystery to me. *gr*)

I have to wait another month until Etown opens in Germany (and I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to see the original version and not the dubbed one. Dubbed versions very often suck immensely). Well, I'm going to see History of Violence this weekend. SQUEEEEE. So, watch out for my babbling about Etown next month and HOV this weekend.

Wonderful report and wonderful pic, sweetie. It sounded as if you had a great time (despite traffic and no dinner!).

I know, I love beautiful architecture, too. I'm so glad we still have a few impressive older buildings in the city, because America's not known for preservation the way European countries are!

I think I need to see Bull Durham again...I expect the older I get the more that movie will make sense to me...lol. But I've always loved it--definitely one can enjoy it whether one understands baseball or not...hee! And Susan is grand. I'll warn you that she doesn't have a huge part in Etown, definitely not as much as I wanted, but she's still wonderful, of course ( ... )

hey! I was there that night with my friend and we were down on the mainfloor - on the leftside of the far right aisle a bit back but not too far over - sounds like we had a slightly better view though we didn't get to see Susan all that close :)

It was a fun evening as you said but while I like Susan - I had not realized going in that there was going to be this huge tribute to her before the movie - like you - we could probably have managed a bite to eat and not missed any movie had we known

totally agree on the length of the film - it still needs some tightening up - it wandered a bit slowly at a few places but I really enjoyed it and as you said Orlando was superb in the role - it was fun seeing him in current day as opposed to costume epic

anyway - just glad to know others also enjoyed the film - even if it did make for a long night

Oh wow, we probably walked right past one another! We were in the first two seats on the right side of the far right aisle, actually, several rows back. Row K or something, I think. The pic I have of Susan is from the Tribune, so I didn't get to see her quite that close, either...hee. Did it seem to you like the film wasn't in widescreen? I know Orlando is tall and thin, but man, he looked *really* tall and thin...lol. I'm surprised with all the work they did in the theater that they couldn't have slipped in some better speakers and a better screen. When we were at the Cadillac Palace Theater for Polar Express it wasn't much better, though I think the sound was a bit clearer. In any case, I'll be happy to go see it a second time in a regular theater ( ... )

wow ... your theatre is gorgeous. and that's a great pic of susan sarandon - so much better than my back of viggo's head!

and it's wonderful that you mentioned orli's eyes. the first time i noticed them was in FOTR when Legolas looked upon the dead boromir - i just burst into tears. and i was trying so hard to hold it together throughout the movie. and he did me in. *sigh*

i want for etown the same thing i wanted for LOTR - to cram as much stuff into it as possible. i don't care how long it is - WANT! there's a scene which was in the trailer of orli in his boxers jumping up and down on his bed which has been cut out - i want that back in! WAH!!! in an interview, kirsten had said that the phone conversation was a lot darker and involved, and that was all cut out ... :-(

i can't wait for this friday to see this movie again ...

Oh, I can't take credit for the pic, it's from the Tribune!! I didn't even bring a camera--they do all these searches for recording equipment and I just didn't want the hassle of dealing with that. If it were Orlando or Viggo I might have tried to do something, but in this case I was just content to see her on stage. :P And the theater is lovely, isn't it? I love all the ornate scrolling and the pillars...

You're absolutely right about the Legolas scene with Boromir's death. I think seeing the Elf with that look just carried so much weight, made that scene totally hit home. It's funny, I just went back and peeked at my Shrine induction for Orli, that I wrote two years ago, and I gushed totally about Orlando's eyes in FOTR. And in my silly imaginary conversation with Orlando, I said about his expressiveness:

"Shall I regale you with the beauty of your expressions? And how they rove like the current of a stream across your face, a little ripple here, an eddy there, each subtle shift barely perceptible, but conveying a slightly ( ... )

hello, just gatecrashing your discussion to let you know that Orli's addition to the Shrine is one of my favourite pieces of all-time; in fact I think I'll go and re-read it now, if you don't mind. We in UK have to wait AGES to see the Orliciousness on screen *huffs* although we do get to see some very lovely black and white photos of him inside (with article)and on the front cover of Bent (UK Gay man's magazine) - I am too technologically incapable, sadly, to do anything public-spirited like post them, which is a shame as he looks lovely, and clearly the guys and gals over at Orli daily seem to have missed this gem...

Great report Hon, thanks.
I'm still trying to stop giggling over cheese and caramel popcorn! Hey I'm a brit - I'd never imagined that combination before.
I have to wait another month for the film to hit here but I think it will do well as so many different people have said "oh I'll go see that with you" after seeing the trailers, a lot more than for Kingdom of Heaven and even Pirates of the Caribbean ( I went solo for Ned Kelly, lol).
Seeing the clips and trailers I am dumbfounded that anyone could say Orlando is not expressive. His eyes convey so much and his body language too.
hugs to you and hubby

It's a regular thing around here to have HUGE tins of popcorn at Christmas, generally divided into three sections, each containing a different flavor of popcorn. But they're always separated...hee...this is the first time I'd ever had them mixed together and I was skeptical...but man oh man, the sweet and the salty combined was a yummy combination, must say! :P (Of course I was so hungry I think I might have eaten pickles and peanut butter! LOL!)

I do hope that the film does well because I know if it doesn't they'll just blame Orlando and that will really make me mad. If it makes a great showing and lots of people go to see it, it won't matter what the critics say! I think you're right, this film will appeal to a broader audience so it will be more than just Orli fans going to see it, which can only help! I think I may take my grandmother, even...it's been awhile since there's been a film out I felt I could take her to!

I saw Ned Kelly on DVD...I don't think it ever got to theaters around here, which was a shame. Hubby and I thought ( ... )
