Times of the year

You know what's funny? Around two weeks ago I was pretty annoyed that Christmas stuff started appearing in stores, seeing as it's OCTOBER. But I'm actually starting to get an early move-on with my Christmas shopping this year. I've already gotten Barbara's present and Mum's present. In fact now I'm annoyed that the 'Christmas Spirit' hasn't ( Read more... )

I always find it so strange to hear Aussies (or anyone from the Southern Hemisphere) talk about the holidays coming up in conjunction with warm weather. O_O But I'm sure you feel the same when you probably hear songs like "White Christmas" or see any Christmas movies & shows with all the snow. It's getting so cold lately & at work we're selling winter coats like hotcakes.

Also, that's just cruel & unusual to show kids Halloween specials, but then you guys don't get to have all the fun. I loved coming home from Trick or Treating then watching the Disney Channel & all their Halloween shows. Now as adults we get to dress up & scare the kids as they come around. But I think a sexy Halloween party would be more fun! ^///^

Heh, yeah. We're in Summer and hearing songs like "Winter Wonderland" in the shopping centres. But it's not really weird or anything. The sad thing is that as a kid, Aussie Christmas is kind of like Halloween. We grew up seeing TV specials about Christmas being cold and hearing songs like White Christmas and we felt sad when we saw it was hot outside. It's all very confusing and sad. But some people grow out of it. Others never lose that feeling of dislocation. We get Americans here all the time saying they love it here but hot Christmasses took alot of getting used to.

I think it would be great to have a cold Christmas overseas with the snow and everything. At least once. Just to know what it's like.

And you're right, it's bloody cruel of them to make us watch Halloween specials when we don't celebrate Halloween. It took me YEARS to figure out that we don't celebrate Halloween here. It sucks that we'll never have those trick-or-treating memories. I always begged my mum to let me and my sister go but she never let us.

"which kinda sucks as we grew up watching Halloween Specials on Nickelodeon and wondered why we could never go Trick-or-Treating"
Glad to see i'm not the only one who felt like we got screwed here.

If anyone ever asks me what I would do with a shitload of money; or large income: I'd 'travel'. as in, I'd just spend half a year between hemispheres so it would always be autumn/winter!
