So I just went down to throw out the trash and found in my garage a note on a spare piece of cardboard. The note was written in Spanish, and says basically "I stayed here tonight because my boyfriend and I had a fight and he's crazy when he's drunk. I wish I could get a warm little room but I don't have a job or money. I want to leave but where

As long as you don't invite her in to sleep in your house. That way lies robbery. Not that you guys have a lot of valuables, but still. Leaving a blanket or sweaters is ok, but I'd leave perhaps a list of shelters for women, maybe some bus fare. They also have food and counseling at such places. And let's not forget that it may be a sham entirely. Leaving her name seems ok, but why leave an address? Sounds sketchy to me.
