So, as I was helping lemurkitten move yesterday when I got a frantic phone call from my boy simpleton_prime that our boycat was oozing copious amounts of pus and blood from his neck. Turns out that he has been injured for probably close to a week, but since his fur is so damn thick we didn't notice until it abscessed and ruptured. Gross ( Read more... )

uck. glad everything is on the upswing and that he's recovering well. if it needs to be cleaned out again, hydrogen peroxide does wonders for infections. although, you don't want to use it over an extended period of time because it kills the good bacteria as well as the bad and impedes healing...but once or twice is fine. but your antibiotics should take care of the infection, and i'm sure he'll tolerate pills better than sitting on him and pouring H2O2 over his neck...;)

Poor Shinji! yeah, abcesses are gross. Lily had one once on her tail, but my grandma had me pin her down while she lanced it and poured Hydrogen Peroxide over it. Seemed to heal up just fine after that. Getting pills in a cat... well, sometimes is harder. Good luck!

Luckily it's in liquid form. I can just squirt it down his throat. I don't even know how I'd make a cat swallow a pill. I mean, I know it can be done, but I don't understand the theory behind it.
