This is a scene that I've planned to have in my story "Borrowed" for a long while, with kiss in the rain and all. And then I saw the prompt... This scene has a long build-up that I'm so totally stuck with.
I think the scene can just as well stand by itsself, but perhaps for understanding: The shrine in this story isn't the Hikawa shrine, but the Meiji Jingu shrine. Yes, that's Zoisite's shirt that Jadeite is wearing (couldn't bring myself to unsee it once I had seen him wearing it). And not surprising, this is PGSM Rei and Jadeite again, which explains why he says he died being at peace with himself. Apart from that, they could be manga Rei and Jadeite as well.
Enjoy! And please, post more Merry May stories! It was pouring outside when they were ready to go, but they wanted to take the long way through the park again. They were soaked after the first steps. None of them complained. Rei could feel there was more than dust that the rain needed to wash off Jadeite. And the sight of his hair that had first sprung into super curl mode ( ... )

Their lips were cold and the kiss was light and questioning, and perhaps it was the feeling to be fallen out of time that made it seem to go on for a long time ( ... )

This was a nice scene between Rei and Jadeite. It's a refreshing change to see her convincing him to be with her rather than the other way around, and it's quite poignant to see her accepting being able to live in the moment without it being about the past or the future.

Thank you! I always thought Rei would feel much more comfortable with someone when she isn't pushed forward (even if it might sometimes be necessary ;)), but can the the pushy one herself ;) And with her backstory of personal losses and loneliness in PGSM I'm wondering if it isn't easier for her if she doesn't have to think of a future too much.

“It wasn’t long after we had been awakened, you and I were not having the best go of things. After several disastrous encounters between us, I wanted to make peace as the respective leaders of the Senshi and Shitennou. I went to your apartment that you were sharing with Makoto at the time. Makoto was out, you answered the door in those bloody yoga pants you love so much and a t-shirt, your hair was messy and your face was flushed from whatever exercise you’d been doing. You were quite irritated at me for interrupting you, but especially for coming over unannounced and proceeded to tell me as much in a very angry manner.” Kadin cleared his throat and shifted again in his seat. “I had trouble focusing on your exact words, as in that moment I clearly remembered the gazebo in question. With that memory in mind, and the fact I wanted you to stop talking, I grabbed your face and kissed you. It was very stupid, and very impolite ( ... )

“And you,” he turned on Minako. “O fearless leader, were being a complete idiot about his feelings for you. I tried to tell him he needed to make a move, but he wouldn’t listen. So when we snuck up for some royal party on the moon, I cornered you and kissed you in front of him to prove a point. The gazebo followed the next time you came down to earth, if memory serves ( ... )

“Good point,” he let out a breath. “Anyway, argument ensued…. She stormed off -- quite literally, because there was rain and lightening and thunder. The power of Jupiter was strong ( ... )

It never failed that rain made her think of Ami. Even more so than a lake or a pool, rain was Ami. Rain could be gentle and healing, or could fall fierce and angry, or could freeze.

But it was as necessary for lie as her Ami was for Zoe.

Their first kiss was when she'd all but forced Ami to take a break from studying, had drug her outside, and the sky had opened. Standing with her in the torrent, Zoe could not resist pulling the other into arms and kissing her, wet blonde curls curtaining around them both.

She sighed as she watched the rain, Emily nuzzling into her with a whine. "I know, girl. I know."

Hearing her cell, she moved from the window to answer it. "Hey, love."

"Hey, sorry calling so late tonight. Charis is down for the night; she tried to stay up to talk to her Mathair, but she fell asleep in the car. We miss you."

Zoe smiled, listening to the voice, "I miss you, too. More than you know." Her tone was wistful.

"Zoe, it's been three days, and we're coming home tomorrow."

"Can't be soon enough."
