Okay so I've been listening to it for like ever today and I'm so fucking attracted to it, so I've been trying to figure out which pairing I could write for it right? and then I just hit play again after leaving that comment and woah, I think Miley and Joe, progressively, could actually totally match the couple in that music video. I'm still thinking on it. But yeah, maybe.
This would be a non-famous AU too, where they were both musicians but never hit it big and ended up having regular low-class jobs, living together, destroying each other.
How would you feel about (in Love the Way You Lie) Miley coming over to Joe's family's house once for a barbeque, and she and Joe are basically dating but not officially. So Nick has like this insta-crush on her kind of like back in the day? Because she's beautiful and funny. But he can't do anything and then she's trying not to look at him too much, etc. Like jealousy is a serious factor, so I can see Joe cataloging these small things... just barely there glances that she almost feels guilty about and then later when they're tearing down it's things like "You've never been able to feel good with just me!"
He'd be good at it, right?! I mean, it's sort of like this almost taboo sort of side of him just because he's SO sweet and then seeing him turn like that. Yeah, it'd be sweet.

Miley's family is back in Tennessee but she moved for university but couldn't keep her grades up, and couldn't afford the next semester, so she started working, singing on open mic nights at bars she wasn't even old enough to drink at, and let's say Joe and Miley live in Houston while the Jonas family stayed in Dallas? And they MEET at an open mic night because they both sing that night? And Joe buys her a drink cause he's old enough and the bar tender doesn't really care.
Oh man, I could so see Miley doing open mic nights at bars she's not even old enough to drink at yet. She'd totally be the type. And them meeting like that, yes please. BUT THEN HE LOSES HER NUMBER. And doesn't see her again for a few weeks, but then they end up doing the same open mic night at this other random bar again, and she's like "Thanks for calling." all sarcastic and he's like "I lost your number!" and she's all "Because that's not the most over-used excuse in the history of ever." and to make up for it he writes her number all up his arms with pen so he can't lose or forget it and she's kind of ~charmed by the bizarre behaviour and yeah. y/n?

But now that you've brought the fic idea up, I'm all "KAJSHDGFAKSJDHFG YES PLZ." God, that fic needs to be written. AND IT ALSO NEEDS TO OCCUR IN REAL LIFE.
