Hey Rob, all of this I've learned from my entertainment law class, though we focused heavily in the music industry (mainly cuz the teacher was a hardcore rock roadie back in the day moving up to manager, and then going to law school). It was interesting stuff.
Well, a lot of it I did know, but an equal amount I didn't. I'm finding that while my writing skills are getting me places, this is also a business, and I do have to know something about business, I can't just pass this off on someone else and hope for the best.
Fortunately, I'm learning the hard way about how things are done, because if I don't now, I may not have that luxury later.
Thanks for the info as usual, I've been learning about this stuff more in my toy design class too - the teacher's done a lot of shopping around with her children's book and there's a lot of crap involved in the contracting and such that isn't easily found as available information, apparently.
I'm finding more about it than I expected. If you'd like, I can share some of it with you offline (as talking online would require a lot more time and typing than my poor fingers can handle. ^_-)
