Does anyone know if the provision of Obama's health care bill (no debates, please-- just asking a simple question[s]) scrapping insurance company's abilities to deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions has gone into effect yet, or know when it will ( Read more... )

I think the pre-existing thing is already in effect. As for costs, that depends. If you're employed, you could wind up eating a lot more of the cost based on how many employees your company has and your annual income (among other various factors). If you're paid less or unemployed, there should be a cap though I'm not sure how it will be priced. Some websites showed an unemployed person paying more than I do per month for care while others said the government will cover X number of dollars so an unemployed person technically pays less.

So really there's no simple answer to your second question other than I believe there will be caps. The benefits... who knows? Usually the cheaper the plan, the crappier the benefits. Not sure how the government is going to work around that one.

I hope it has indeed gone into effect.

I'm [still] unemployed, so I've started looking for a somewhat decent and relatively inexpensive insurance plan [mostly just want pharmacy benefits], and I've already been denied once for disclosing what I thought were innocuous conditions (e.g., acne). o_o;
