Jesus has risen again, so the gospel says...

Wow, it's been awhile. My computer has been packed up in a box for the past four months, so this is my first time using the internet AT ALL since the first week of autumn. For the few of you who still don't know why I've been offline so long, there's good news to share with you. At the end of October, I moved out into my own apartment! For the ( Read more... )

And to think you're back on the internet because of my generous donation to your church! ^_^

Glad to see you finally hooked it all up!

Damn right. I'm still eternally grateful, by the way. Thanks to the hookup, I was able to get this all done much sooner. Not to mention I ended up needing the Wisnermobile to help lug the desk to my place. Hope to see you at church this sunday. You're the member of our regular congregation who travels the furthest each week, but it's always worth the trip.

Reading this has been a bit of an inspiration. The thought of moving out and giving up having money in exchange for that is a very stressful prospect for me. But at the same time, I've been quite unhappy as well.

We'll see if I don't end up following suit in the next few months. How much is your rent out there?

Rent is high out in Chicagoland. Most of our outta-state friends have much lower costs of living (like the Baltimore people, Omaha people, etc). My place is like $700 per month, and that's only because I was actually able to talk them down from an even higher asking price. And that was a feat... since my building is part of a big complex, and owned by a corporation (rather than some private landlord). But in my case, I absolutely needed to live alone. For me it's worth it, despite the struggles ( ... )

Classic 2 is some DIFFICULT stuff, man!

I wish that it were as simple here as "living in my parent's house." At this point, the reality of it is that we are living in our house and my mom is freeloading. My dad has pretty much already confirmed that the house belongs to my brother and I. When we leave, we are also going to sell the place off. However, you don't just tell your mother that she needs to leave. However, as it stands, my brother pays the majority of the bills here with me coming in at a close second. All moving will do is give me MORE bills to pay as well as more personal space. It will also light a fire under Mom and Darnell to make a move.

A lot of the people out there that live at home have it insanely well (from what I can tell, at least) and I really hope that they are appreciating what it is that they have. ^_^

I'm aware of your situation, you've told me before. That was what I meant when I said "commitments to family." Just didn't wanna go into detail unless it was your choice. ^_^;; Either way, I understand all that, which is why I don't give you guff about moving out here. Some other folks (like from Ohio, Michigan, and Omaha) have really intimate family issues that cause them the same issues with moving to Chicago. Although yers is prolly the toughest, so I respect you immensely for even surviving it all.
