Matt looks up from his book; he slept for a couple of hours before waking, pretty much for good. He hears Misa calling out, screaming in nightmarish agony, and his first instinct is to bolt forward and find out what's wrong - which he does. Dropping his book and his smoldering cigarette, Matt flies across the room, leaping onto the bed and grasping her by the shoulders as she opens her mouth and cried out, "Light!"
All the blood rushes out of his face; Matt can feel himself paling, and he sits back, slack-jawed, staring down at her. He swallows, unsure of what to say or do.
Misa is a jerk :D (but not intentionally!)shinigami_isJanuary 12 2010, 09:33:04 UTC
Matt's touch is enough to bring Misa properly back into consciousness. Her eyes focus on his face slowly, the rest of the room swimming into focus behind him. At first she seems puzzled - her throat is raw, and she can't quite figure out why - has she been screaming? Why? - and the room is unfamiliar...come to that, the guy hovering above her is unfamiliar...Her brain wants to force the boy in bed with her into being Light - to rearrange his features to match up to what she expects to say. But it won't work. The boy stays resolutely Matt, and it takes her a second or two to recall what happened yesterday.
When she does, the colour drains out of her face almost as quickly as it drained out of Matt's.
"...Oh..." she murmurs, slowly, feeling suddenly a little nauseous. "...oh no..."
Startled, Matt leans backward quite limberly, grapply for the wastebasket next to the bed. He'd anticipated this sort of reaction from Misa. He yanks it upward, holding it steady in his lap, poised.
Fortunately, it passes. She shakes her head at him, not able to speak for a moment, going over what happened the night before in her head.
She had convinced herself it was just a dream - just some weird delusion she'd suffered after a fall in the alleyway, on her way home. But now, having woken up in the same room, Matt sitting right there next to her...
She swallows heavily, feeling as if she might be about to cry.
Stay with Misa! Forever...and ever...and everrrrrrr!shinigami_isJanuary 13 2010, 08:54:56 UTC
Misa takes a few steps away and perches on the edge of the large bathtub.
"When I first got here, I ran into another Misa - the one who is with L. She said that she and L managed to somehow make it so...so that when the mansion sends them back, she goes back to his world, not her own. I don't know how they did it, but...we could find out?"
She watches him carefully, her heart hammering in her chest nervously. It's a crazy notion, really - they hardly know each other, but the thought of letting him go back to his own world just so he can die...whether it helps his cause or not...makes her feel ill.
:/ Matt is unsure...logical_redJanuary 13 2010, 09:03:36 UTC
He stares at her, eyes wide and blue. He feels so strange yet normal, standing there with her in just a white tank and a pair of bright red boxers. Looking at her, sitting there on the side of the tub, wrapped up in their bedsheets... Our bedsheets, eh? She's not only cute and absolutely adorable like that; she's completely and totally beautiful, in a way that the Misa in his world never could be.
Matt crosses the surprisingly spacious bathroom to sit beside her; one arm around her shoulder, and she's leaning into his embrace. Finally being honest with himself, he realizes that he'd love nothing more "But..." Something's still nagging at him. "...what about Light?"
Pft, Misa will just handcuff him and force him to do it - he'd like that, right? XDshinigami_isJanuary 13 2010, 09:13:29 UTC
Her instinctive response is to just laugh and reply 'What ABOUT Light?'.
But she'd be lying to herself, if she shrugged it off like that. He has a point. And not only because she still feels conflicted on the matter. There's the very real possibility that Light would...not take kindly to her returning to their world with Matt in tow. If such a thing is even possible

Matt can barely focus on her words; all he can really seem to pay attention to is her lip-biting. It's so fucking cute... He just wants to bite that lip for her.
When he hears that last part, however, he tenses up. If I ever meet that sick fuck, I am so fucking him up, Matt decides.
He reaches up, gently taking Misa's chin in his fingers, and turns her head toward him; her eyes meet his, and their so full of tears that Matt's expression hardens, though he tries hard to soften it. "Amane," he murmurs quietly, looking her right in the eye - something he rarely does with people. "A man should love you for you - not for what you can do for him." He's nearly overwhelmed by the echoing ache he feels that he needs to tell her this sort of thing.
Matt chuckles, a bit uncomfortably. "That's not... entirely the case," he says. "Mello's my best friend, and we've been through a lot of shit together - so we're reallll... open, I guess you could say."
He sighs; Is there really no getting around this? "We don't have a certain type of relationship - and, yes, we've had sex before. And we live together." He swallows. "Honestly, he's like another part of me, and losing him... it's like losing a limb." He looks her in the eye as he says this: "I miss him, but I'd also miss you."
Matt isn't stupid; he knows why Misa gets skittish every time he mentions Mello. He wants her to see that they are two very different people - he wants them both in his life. He smirks as a very Lawli-like expression pops into his head: I wanna have my cake and eat it too.
Unfortunately, Misa is about the least 'open' person you could ever meet. As far as descriptive adjectives go, the one's people usually use to describe her often include 'jealous', 'possessive' and 'crazy'.
She swallows heavily as she listens to Matt's 'explanation', trying her best to be open minded about it, and failing miserably.
"I see..." she nods slowly, not really seeing at all "...I, um...well, I'd never ask you to...not see him, or anything."
Hell, she's put up with Light seeing dozens of other girls behind her back before, hasn't she? She supposes she can manage Matt's weird thing with Mello. At least he's up front about it.
"If you're uncomfortable with the entire set-up with Mello..." A slightly upset look crosses Matt's features; he's doing a very good job of hiding how much this next topic truly bothers him: "Even if we can find some way to keep me alive, I doubt Mello'd get off so easy. He's ten times as stubborn as me, and at least fifty times as reckless."
Ordinarily, the thought of what Misa perceived as 'competition' being eliminated would have made her ecstatic. However, the expression on Matt's face - the slight tremor in her voice - send a strange sort of stabbing sensation to her heart. It would hurt Matt, if something were to happen to Mello. And if it hurt Matt, apparently, it was also going to hurt her...
"Then we'll find some way to make sure nothing happens to him, either." she pronounces, decidedly, giving his hand a squeeze.
