SHINee Fic Mix 2012: Sign Ups
Based on the outcome of our recent poll, shinee_replay will be hosting SHINee Fic Mix for the second year in a row!
Inspired by kpop-ficmix, SHINee Fic Mix is a writing challenge where authors take each other's stories and remix them! This is not as simple as rewriting another story; the challenge here is to explore a new part of the story by changing or adding elements while keeping the same basic premise and pairings of the original.
You can switch the point of view or focus on one specific aspect of the story. Think of it as remixing a song-the song is the same at its core, but it's tweaked to showcase a different aspect.
You will be assigned an author to remix, but you may choose from any of the three fics he/she provides to remix.
Here are some examples:
Original: Onew's POV of falling in love with Taemin during their summer vacation, but their friends keep trying to stop them from getting together.
Possible Remix: Minho's POV of trying to stop Onew and Taemin from getting together because he's in love with Onew.
Possible Remix: Onew's POV of Minho confessing his love for him but denying him for Taemin (untold in the original).
Original: Jonghyun's POV of getting competitive with Minho and challenging him to a video game tournament because he likes to see Minho riled.
Possible Remix: Jonghyun's POV of spying on Minho competing in a game and coming up with the idea of challenging him to a video game tournament (untold in the original).
Possible Remix: Key's POV of watching Jonghyun and Minho's video game tournament and wondering why Jonghyun is his best friend.
In addition, this is as much a challenge as it is an exchange, meaning if you sign up to have your fic remixed, you must remix a fic as well. We hope that having someone rely on your writing will keep you motivated and encourage you to do your best! We cannot guarantee that you will receive a remix, but we highly discourage dropping out.
While we want to encourage as many people to sign-up for the challenge as would like to, please carefully consider your availability and schedule before doing so. For this event in particular, people are counting on you as a writer to produce work for them. If you are unfamiliar with our new strikes policy, please read this prior to signing up for SHINee Fic Mix. Dropping out, turning in fics late and requiring extensions (outside of extenuating circumstances) warrants strikes against your record and could result in you being blacklisted for the duration of one event year.
Requirements:
• You must have at least 3 fics of 1000 words each for the mixer to choose from
• At least 3 1000-word fics, but preferably all of your fics, must be open to public reading for the duration of the challenge (meaning it can't be friends-locked outside of shinee_replay)
• After the remix has been posted, the original fic must remain open to public reading for at least 30 days
• Your remix must be at least 1500 words
