So I totally want to write a self-insert one-shot, in which I get sucked through the game screen into the world of *insert FE universe of choice*, get dysentery within a week, and die

Scariest jar ever. I fear octopi a lot. And it was not good to be freaked out by octopi when you're supposed to be educating children about them, particularly when one day, the octopus is ticked off. Scary. O_o
I remember Totoro from when I was eight or something and my mom borrowed a Cantonese dub from the library. I only had a vague idea what it was about and the cat-bus was weird, though amusing, and my brother was nuts about the Totoro (but he kept calling it the "dragon-cat" because that's what the dub called it).
My brother and I watched a bunch Ghibli films once, after Spirited Away and Mononoke, and I reluctantly admit that Nausicaa was kind of hard to pay attention to. Most of the stuff we watched was the more contemporary stuff, like Whisper of the Heart, which I guess were easier to relate to. Haven't seen a lot of the older stuff, like Kiki or Laputa.
Aww, I think octopi are cute. And yummy. :P But yeah, I can understand the scariness of a pissed off octopus...
Oh, I think I remember that translation as a dragon cat! That was weird, though eventually we phased out of watching the Chinese dub and started watching the English dub only.
Whisper of the Heart is my favorite non-Miyazaki Ghibli. Re: Nausicaa, yeah... These days I can look at it and notice its flaws (the manga actually came first and the story had to be altered a great deal for the movie -- eventually he finished the manga version though, which is supposed to be much more intricate and plays up the political intrigue aspects), but I grew up with it, so. The older stuff is definitely worth a watch though! I highly recommend Laputa. It hasn't always been my favorite (still wouldn't call it my favorite, actually), but ultimately I really think that movie in particular is a masterpiece of storytelling. (Plus the pirates are awesome. XD)
"Ghibli is what saves me every time I start thinking, FUCK YOU WORLD."
Hey, i think i should start watching ghibli a heck of a lot more often...
and sometimes i really think i used to be a prostitute ('cause i've always been a perv ;), a Japanese person, an English person, and some kind of royalty ('cause i can be horribly snooty).
all i remember about the Minoans is when they were shown in a documentary we watched in high school and the boys kept sniggering about the paintings of Minoan girls, who apparently wore their clothes right underneath their breasts. =.=;
