I don't think I can really add anything here that everyone else hasn't already said, but I do want to say that I love you for speaking out like that. I hear that fucking word thrown around EVERY DAY at school and it never gets less grating and horrible. And I hate that EVERY TIME I argue for them to stop, they just shrug and brush it off and claim it doesn't have the same meaning to me that it does to them. Because they don't GET IT.

Ugh, yeah -- I'm not gonna lie, it was way easier to speak up there than at, like, work. I'm intensely lucky that my immediate workplace is pretty good and generally filled with people who both don't fail that hard and will be receptive if you call them out on it, but at the same time... my wider industry is also 95% dudes of a Certain Age and/or Mindset, so... I really, really feel for you, hon. GAH. I hate how some people just don't get it. And good on YOU for trying, in the face of all that. <3333

I am sorry you had to deal with assholes. I hate it when it happens, and I totally get why it gave you the shakes and colored your experience.

Oh man, that is serious sucksville!! You did the right thing by the sound of it tho and are VERY BRAVE for dealing with that by yourself.

The only time i had to call someone out for this was in a tute and i had the fact that a. i was the tutor and hence in a position of authority and b. surprisingly half the class agreed with me, so the person get properly shamed and apologised. sports games? not so easy.
