Jeremiah entered the room. There was a sense of pride in the device they had put together. His forwards thinking and innovation was the only thing keeping his asylum standing after decade upon decade of failure and scandal.

"Good evening, Diva."

He smiled amicably, interrupting her song with his own voice. A physician would need to see her soon, he knew. From observation alone, the asylum physician had hypothesized that Diva was anemic. Her appearance at present seemed to only validate the diagnosis.

Diva was glad to at least hear him outside the room, as faint as it was. But she didn't stop or even so much acknowledge his presence until he spoke. She let out a wavering note that trailed into nothing before she gave Arkham her attention. The pressure of just singing was enough exertion to make her want to breathe as if she had finished running, but she refused to show him her weakness, and instead her breath came long and deep.

"Is it evening?" she asked coolly, "I wouldn't know. There aren't any windows in here."

There was hardly anything in there at all. Despite fatigue trying to overtake her, she still stubbornly refused to sleep, so during the long and mostly quiet nights, all Diva had to do was watch the patterns made by the quiet ripples of the water.

"Yes, it is."

He pulled a chair from against the wall and moved it closer to her cell, if it could be called that. He sat down, looking towards Diva.

"I've been told that you are not sleeping. We know that this cannot continue. Sleep is necessary. I hope that you will sleep on your own, but another 24 hours and I will be forced to assist you with your sleeping problem."

"I don't need to sleep, so there's no reason to. And you already know that tranquilizers just hurt me for a little while, then there's no problem, so I hope you have a better idea to force me to," she replied before taking a seat on the rough and uncomfortable bed that looked out of place in her unusual cell ( ... )

"You don't think you're sick. When is the last time you've looked at yourself, Diva? You look very unwell."

Sleep deprivation was unfortunate. He had seen it many times, ordered it once or twice, cured it a handful more times. Her colour and demeanor did nothing to convince him that she wasn't deprived of sleep.

"As for the tranquilizers, adaptations can be made. I'm sure we will find the proper dosage for you soon enough. We have a great deal of time together to discover the correct medication to assist in your recovery."
