Glitches with internet connections

Recent absence of communication due to difficulty getting beyond this page in LJ. Wonder if anyone else out there has this problem. I have a new PC running Windows 7 Home Premium, I have a reputable antivirus program running.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I've checked all the preferences, can't find anything which seems relevant. I managed to get this window up by restarting Firefox in safe mode without any addons and one of the links in the email notifying me of your response worked. Unfortunately there's still a problem loading other pages. It's still the old "rerdirect" thing.
Maybe I should just cut my losses, return the goods under warranty and come over to the Mac side!

Hmm could be a browser permission thing but I'm curious that you've got the same problem with multiple browsers. Also if it's happening with sites other than LJ I wonder if it's something to do with the way your internet service provider is allocating you IP addresses? Could be that LJ and googledocs don't like your IP addresses for some some reason? Although tbh I'm not entirely sure what you would do about that :/

If your machine is a laptop I'd suggest taking it to a different network (work, cafe, whatever) and trying it there. If you still get the same fault then obviously it's a problem caused my your machine rather than your home network. At least that narrows it down a bit.

The only other thing I can suggest is uninstalling and reinstalling your browsers or if all else fails reinstalling the operating system. Or if it's still under warranty call the supplier and try and get them to fix the problem.
