Well, my hair is starting to get long again, and I don't know of that many short cuts for Asian girls, aside from the variety that Takarazuka otokoyaku have.

Does anyone have any good pictures of the BACK of an otokoyaku's head? Haha. We usually get a good look at the front, but not really the back...

This post at million_dreams has a Komu wallpaper in which her head is turned just enough that you can get a sense of the back of her haircut. Also, the Gatsby stage graph has that picture of Asako staring out across the water.

With otokoyaku there doesn't seem to be very much that's special about the cut. In general I think it's more about the styling, but they always seem to leave a decent amount of length in the back (instead of buzzing it up close to the neck, with the notable exception of Tom)

Heh, I kind of just wake up and go, no styling for me. :P

But I really just want to ditch as much hair as I can without looking stupid. Haha.

How long is your long? There's that super thinned-out-bottom cut, and bobs usually work ok too. I dunno if you wanted a specific style/otokoyaku, but in general they just seem to keep it a few inches longer in the back. 1 2 3 These are a bit long for me, though. I have something closer to Wao-san's.

I'm not a fan of bobs. At this age, I think I'm a bit too old for the mushroom cut that every Asian kid I know has had at some point in their life, haha.

What super thinned-out-bottom cut are you referring to?

I'll probably end up keeping it a little feathery in the back, but right now, I'm starting to get the otokoyaku mullet...

Oh god, the bowl cut. My hair's always been short-er, so that's the one thing I've managed to escape. The mullet on the other hand... ^^;

Super thin bottom - I can't find a pic, but it's the cut where halfway down, they start cutting the hair super thin and wispy? It might take longer hair than you want, though, and layering's probably easier. Also, one of my friends uses this site for her hair ideas. Good luck ;)

You are completely reading my mind! My hair's growing out a lil from OCS, but I want to keep it short. When thinking of what style I wanted it cut, I immediately thought, "Well, how do otokoyaku cut their hair?" XDDD

Try keeping some length at the front and back and ditching it at the sides for a smoother, sharper look. If you wear a fringe already, that is (bangs in American, right??)

Yeah then have the sides tidied up and keep the volume on the top of the head but lose it at the sides. Depending on how thick your hair is already you might need more layers cut in higher up to give that effect, and thinned out at the ends.

Consider yourself lucky, your hair is just right to take an otokoyaku style really well...Mine needs help in the form of "Product" every day.

But if you pay more for a decent cut then you'll have that get-up-and-go-ness that you so crave - I'm the same, I just need that convenience.

In fact, I don't own a comb at the mo, thanks to the ongoing legacy of my wonderful Japanese hairdresser. Wish I could have brought him home with me... T_T

Show us some pics when you're done!! Onegai!
