Forget Twilight. If you are for vampire books, then may I suggest Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series. It is so much better written with characters who can hold water because they are actually fleshed out, and, as an added bonus, Harris and her editor managed to pay attention in grammar class. HBO's True Blood is based on the series, and though I haven't seen it, I can vouch for the books.
(on a side note: I don't think I have ever written "vouch" in a sentence, and I had to actually look in my dictionary to figure out how to spell it.)
Thanks for the recommendation! I actually only read Twilight because it was on a reading list for a conference.
My biggest reading challenge this week is to find 2-3 books from my shelves of unread stuff that are 1) light enough to carry while traveling, 2) will be entertaining enough keep me happy on a bus and 3) will keep me going for the return trip as well. :)
