Poll: V

If you've spent any time on my flist, you know I'm a sci-fi fan from way back, and you also probably know that one of my first three fandoms (along with Star Trek and Star Wars) was V, both the original miniseries and V: The Final Battle. When the first weekly TV series came along, I watched that, too. In fact, V has the distinction of giving me ( Read more... )

Haha! I was only six when V first aired. I remember being freaked out by the alien baby, and hiding in my bedroom, lol! I ended up watching it again when I was like 13 or so. Someone I knew had it on VHS. The quality was pretty crappy so I might have to check and see if my local video store has the DVD. As for the new V, I'll give it a shot.

The whole miniseries is on YouTube, if you want to watch it there. How long it'll stay before YouTube takes it down is another matter. :D

I was a little young when V aired but I'm very excited about the new show and I think I watched a few clips on youtube.

I'm confused by all the different titles. I remember being traumatized by V as a kid. Seriously, I was TERRIFIED of them. I saw shots of skin bubbling, I think it was, and I spent months being afraid of the aliens.

I've never revisited it as an adult though.

I'm confused by all the different titles.

There were two miniseries (V: The Miniseries and V: The Final Battle). Together, they made up a 10-hour epic. Given the success of that, they launched a TV series, but they made the mistake of killing off a fan-favorite character, etc. and it only lasted a season.

Now, they're making a reimagining of the whole epic with a new cast and a new focus. It looks outstanding.

V was a popular and groundbreaking miniseries from the 80s. It aired over the span of two years and eventually spun off into a TV series. It was about humanity making it's first contact with aliens and the ensuing resistance movement that started when some became suspicious about the intentions of the Visitors.

It offered a powerful political commentary during the time.

I'm one of those people that, if the new one is good, I'll go back and watch the old. That's what I'm doing with Star Trek right now. Of course, there's SO MUCH Trek to catch up on.

I have high hopes that the new one will be awesome.

Yes, there is a TON of Trek for you to catch up on. But it's worth it.
