You know what the problem is? People are in such a hurry and are way too self-absorbed. They're in a huge hurry and they have to get things at the last minute (hence this annoying "Christmas rush").
Same thing with the drivers. People drive awful where I'm from, too. They try to beat traffic lights, they shoot across an intersection... they're just in such a hurry and they don't think about the consequences of their actions.
