What's chili to you? I think it varies from across the world so I'm rather curious about how you perceive it, because chili here is just a sauce we use to dip stuff into, like crackers or nuggets or something. What's your chili? :)
Well, chili here is considered to be a meal. It's kind of like a soup, but heartier. It usually has chili or kidney beans, and often has some kind of meat. People often make vegetarian chili, though. The sauce is usually tomato based, and chili is frequently topped with cheese or some other garnish. It's great with cornbread!
Yum! Cornbread.
There are tons of different kinds here in the states. It kind of varies by region. For example, Cincinnati, Ohio has a really famous chili called Skyline Chili. It's actually poured over spaghetti noodles, which is kind of different from most chili.
Texas is also noted for their chili. There, it's often really spicy, has no beans, and has lots of meat in it (usually steak or ground beef).
Another place famous for their chili is The Hard Times Cafe in the DC/Virginia area.
Chili is so popular in the states, that lots of people attend annual chili cookoffs where they can win trophies and money.
